St. Andrews is home to amazing ministries for students 6th grade through 12th grade! Whether you are searching to join a youth group, get involved in the acolyte program, or become a boy scout we have a place for you!
St. Andrew’s Youth Group is for kids in 6th through 12th grades. It meets September through April on Sundays from 3:30-5 p.m. The goal of Youth Group is to provide an environment where kids can have fun with one another while growing in their faith.
The acolyte program is a vibrant ministry for kids in 6th through 12th grades. Acolytes serve once a month at one of our Sunday services. Youth say their time as an acolyte has deepened their spiritual life. They grow in understanding and appreciation of worship, and they build new friendships. If your youth is looking for a way to connect at St. Andrew’s, the acolyte program is a warm, welcoming place to be.
Troop 16 is a member of the Boy Scouts of America, Heart of America Council, Pioneer Trails District, in Kansas City, Missouri. Scouting is for boys ages 11-18. The program is designed to achieve BSA objectives through a vigorous outdoor program and peer group leadership with adult counsel. Our Motto, “Be Prepared” is recognized world-wide.
This opportunity is open to 10th through 12th grade students who want to strengthen their leadership skills and grow in their faith. The team helps plan and lead Youth Group, meeting monthly for planning, fellowship, and fun. Interested youth should apply in February by contacting Jean Long.
Christmas Tree Lot Sale
The Youth Ministry’s annual fundraiser is the Christmas Tree Lot. Youth sell Christmas trees beginning the day after Thanksgiving through the week before Christmas. Youth and parents who work the Christmas tree lot “earn” money for their individual accounts so youth may use this money to help pay for any church-related activities. Activities might include the winter ski retreat, mission trips, or other diocesan youth events.
The winter ski retreat is an annual weekend of skiing and fellowship in the beautiful Colorado Rockies. It is usually in February. Attendees enjoy skiing during the day and various games and activities in the evenings.
This is the rite in which we express a mature re-commitment to Christ, and receive strength from the Holy Spirit through prayer and the laying on of hands by a bishop.
